There’s Something In You That The World Needs

Dominican Republic & Haiti

Each and everyday of our lives, we grow older. As a young child, we know love and kindness in its purest form; we are innocent and oblivious to many tragedies and heartache occurring throughout the world. It is not until we grow older, that we comprehend the significant bliss, of once being oblivious. During middle to late childhood, ones cognitive ability to conceptualize with emotion rapidly enhances. Therefore, we begin to put together the pieces of cause and affect, and adapt to the norms of society. Then, once tragedy occurs, in any form… natural disasters, terrorist attacks, shootings, etc, we are able to recognize there is an issue that must be addressed, and more often than not… we want to help resolve it. With that being said however, it doesn’t always mean we are able to help, or worse, we say we will, but we don’t. —Which is a topic for another day.

An old friend of mine once described my overall persona as a free-spirited humanitarian, and that couldn’t be more accurate. I enjoy finding the positive in negative situations, and holding onto hope in times of darkness and despair. It’s all about perspective. I made this blog by reason of doing precisely what the name states—serve and inspire. I would like for this blog to be useful and informative, while inspiring people to bring awareness to, and serve causes they’re passionate about. As opposed to, merely “supporting” a cause.

With that being said, I am finally fulfilling one of my greatest desires in life, to help those in need overseas! Since I can remember, I have yearned to travel to underprivileged areas, and immerse myself into an unfamiliar culture, and serve the less fortunate in any way that I can. I was recently presented with an amazing life altering opportunity, and tomorrow July 31st, I am traveling to the República Dominicana & Haiti, to do just that! I am going to serve on a voluntary medical mission trip with International Service Learning (ISL), and their phenomenal Global Health team. We will be assisting in health clinics, and providing medical treatment to those who would otherwise be unable to receive such services. I feel growing up in America, myself included, we take for granted how truly lucky we are… something as simple as a routine dental visit, we dread, and perceive it to be a mandatory burden—yes, I am guilty of that too. Whereas, many other areas throughout the world, they see our so called “burden,” as a privilege and a blessing.

I know that the experiences on this trip will be challenging, yet truly amazing, and demanding, yet, very humbling. I am looking forward to such remarkable experience, and I believe it will only reaffirm my desire to become a Physician Assistant.

Dreamer. Believer. Achiever. Proud mother and chocolate lover.

This is the perfect website for anybody who really wants to
understand this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa).
You certainly put a brand new spin on a topic that’s been discussed
for decades. Great stuff, just great!

First of all I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if
you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes
are lost simply just trying to figure out how to
begin. Any suggestions or tips? Kudos!
